Spring 2026 Class Descriptions

The Navigators USA alternative scouting program was created to include everyone, and to help each person develop their fullest potential without discrimination. We aim to establish a world without prejudice or ignorance, and to treat every person with respect, no matter their race, creed, lifestyle, or ability.

We are Navigators USA Chapter 380, Chelsea MI. Our organization is a homeschooling, family-oriented model. The Navigators USA family homeschool model is an inclusive, secular scouting program that encourages the entire family, including grandparents and other relatives, to participate in meetings and adventures, strengthening community bonds while providing children with social skills and life skills. This allows for multi-generational interaction and helps build stronger bonds both within families and with the community. Navigators USA is open to everyone, regardless of race, religion, gender, or identity. Its moral compass focuses on universal values like respect, freedom, and community responsibility. Plus we have a whole lot of fun making friends and earning badges!
Some ages overlap. It is suggested that if you are on the cusp of a group and your child's birthday is after we start in September that you pick the lower group. Many of the older classes require more attention or possibly reading/writing skills.

Building Club (Ages 2–4)
This hands-on early childhood class invites our youngest learners to explore, create, and experiment through age-appropriate building play. Each week, children dive into open-ended construction activities using safe, oversized materials such as wooden blocks, foam bricks, magnetic tiles, cardboard tubes, DUPLO® or other materials.
Together we’ll practice foundational skills—stacking, sorting, balancing, matching shapes, and simple problem-solving—while supporting fine-motor development and early STEM thinking. Stories, songs, and guided challenges help spark imagination, but the heart of the class is child-led discovery. Little builders will work individually and collaboratively as they construct towers, bridges, roads, and creative inventions of their own design. The environment is gentle, playful, and encouraging, with a focus on exploration rather than product. Perfect for curious toddlers and preschoolers who love to tinker, build, and play!
